About Loch Long Salmon

Loch Long Salmon Partnership

We are a Scottish-English-Irish partnership of three climate conscious companies that have collective experience in marine development, salmon farming and food distribution. All three have a focus on sustainability and community issues.

Simply Blue Group – Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, is a leading blue economy developer focused on replacing fossil fuels with clean ocean energy. It develops pioneering blue economy projects – floating offshore wind, e-Fuels, wave energy, and low-impact aquaculture – all in harmony with the oceans. The company has a pipeline of over 10GW of floating offshore wind projects across the globe. Simply Blue is committed to creating new economic opportunities for coastal communities, and developing projects that co-exist with sustainable fisheries and marine conservation.

Golden Acre Foods – Environmental sustainability is a key part of Golden Acre’s overall mission. Golden Acre “is a B-Corp company” and has British Retail Consortium AA ratings and is an official sponsor of The Ocean Foundation and Trees for Cities and an Oxfam partner. Our Values

To achieve our mission and succeed as a pioneering, commercially successful and sustainable salmon farming business we will be guided by the following values:

Integrity
We do what we say by each other, by the communities where we operate, by regulators and by our customers. We will operate honestly and in good faith and conscience.
Excellence
Individually and collectively, we strive to set to the highest standards across all our activities and projects. This includes our care for the environment, for our salmon, for our team and in our engagement with communities.
Passion
We are passionate about the work we do, the environment we do it in and the challenge in doing it better.
Challenge
We are ambitious in our thoughts and actions and must continually challenge others and ourselves to improve. We believe that by demonstrating what is possible that we can bring positive change to Scotland’s salmon farming sector and develop its circular economy.
Stewardship
We are committed to the care of our salmon and our people, to looking after the communities and ecosystems where we work, and to improving the prospects of Scotland’s wild salmon.

Aquaculture in Scotland

As Scotland and the UK’s largest food export, farmed salmon is a huge part of the economic success and international recognition of Scotland’s iconic food and drink sector.  Even more significantly Scottish salmon farming is a cornerstone of the communities that host the farms, providing quality year-round jobs and community investment as well as support for many local ancillary businesses.

The Scottish Government and regulators need solutions which properly balance the desire to support local economies with the imperative of protecting the environment.

Loch Long Salmon’s new approach, using semi-closed farming systems improves environmental and fish welfare outcomes.  Our innovation will allow Scottish communities to continue to enjoy the economic and social benefits associated with salmon farming and will allow this important rural business sector to thrive.
